Note added by Fran Hensler: Limited testing was done on z/VM 3.1
with CP SET 370ACC ON. The fact that the author mentions EDGAR
(a predecessor of XEDIT) indicates that the program is very old.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS EDITOR (EDITM) WAS WRITTEN TO ASSIST IN INSPECTING AND CHANGING
THE CONTENTS OF CMS LOAD MODULES WITHOUT THE NECESSITY OF RECOMPILATION.
THE EDITOR CANNOT CHANGE THE SIZE OF LOAD MODULES AND IF
NO PATCH AREAS ARE PROVIDED THEN IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE
LOGIC OTHER THAN BY OVERLAYING EXISTING CODE.
THE MAXIMUM MODULE SIZE THAT CAN BE EDITED IS 1,048,575 BYTES, STORAGE
PERMITTING. THE COMMANDS USED TO ACHIEVE THIS HAVE BEEN KEPT TO A MINIMUM
AND FOLLOW THE RULES OF EDGAR IN THE WAY THAT THE SCREEN IS MOVED IN
RESPONSE TO UP DOWN FORWARD AND BACKWARD COMMANDS.
UP MEANS ADVANCE THE DISPLAY TOWARDS THE END OF THE MODULE.
THE EDITOR WILL NOT ALLOW FILE TYPES OTHER THAN MODULE TO BE EDITED
BUT THERE IS NO OBJECTION TO CHANGING THE FILE TYPE TO A NON-MODULE
TYPE PRIOR TO FILING OR SAVING.
WHEN A FILE OR SAVE IS DONE WITHOUT A CHANGE TO ANY OF THE FILE
ATTRIBUTES EG NAME TYPE OR MODE THE CHANGES ARE DONE IN PLACE
AND THE LIST KEPT BY EDITM OF THE CHANGES DONE TO THAT POINT
IS RESET AND ALL HIGH INTENSITY FIELDS BECOME NORMAL.
